Refilio
Track every trip, tame every fuel cost — a focused iOS app for people who want to understand where their driving money actually goes.
Overview
Refilio is an iOS app for tracking trip costs and keeping a close eye on fuel spending. Drivers log their trips and fill-ups, and the app turns that into a clear picture of habits and running costs — so a tank of gas stops being a mystery line on a bank statement.
I owned it end-to-end: the product thinking, the interface, the data model, and the release to the App Store.
The challenge
Fuel and trip costs are death by a thousand cuts — small, frequent, and easy to forget. Generic budgeting apps treat a fill-up like any other expense, so the story of how you drive and what it costs never surfaces. Refilio needed to make logging fast enough to actually do at the pump, then pay that back with insight.
What I built
- Fast expense flowsLow-friction logging for fill-ups and trips, designed to be done in a few taps on a phone.
- Trip habit trackingTurns raw entries into patterns — how often, how far, and how much it's costing over time.
- Fuel cost monitoringKeeps gas spending front-and-centre so trends are obvious before they become expensive.
- End-to-end mobile deliveryFrom first screen to a signed build live on the App Store, including review and release.
Tech & approach
Built with React Native and Expo for a single, fast iOS codebase, with an emphasis on a snappy, native-feeling UI and reliable data entry. I tested on real devices, tuned the flows that get used most, and handled the full App Store submission and release pipeline myself.
Results & status
- Shipped & live on the App StoreBuilt end-to-end and released to real users on real devices.
- Owned end-to-endDesign, build, QA on real hardware, and the full App Store submission & review pipeline — solo.
⤷ Add a real metric here — downloads, rating, retention, or fuel-cost saved. One concrete number makes this far more convincing. (See README.)
